The Leaf Motif Series grows directly from my time outdoors in the fall. During my daily walks and long bike rides, I move through forests where the ground is covered with layers of fading leaves and fallen branches. The season always slows me down. It invites me to pay attention to the small things: the shift of light between bare limbs, the smell of damp earth, the soft sound of leaves breaking under my shoes.

These moments become more than scenery. They are when I sort through my thoughts, remember past seasons of my life, and feel my place in the world with more clarity. Walking among trees shedding their last leaves often reminds me of the cycles I have lived through — raising my children, evolving as an artist, letting go of what no longer fits, and beginning again. There is a sense of quiet honesty that comes with autumn, and I carry that into my work.

Each painting is created with Indian ink on 100 percent recycled paper, echoing the textures and patterns I see along the trails. The marks I make come from those hours outdoors when my mind is open and observant. The Leaf Motif Series reflects not only the landscape, but the personal shifts, memories, and renewed focus that rise to the surface during my fall journeys.
